This painting depicts Kittyhawk Mk1 Fighters of No. 112 Squadron, which formed part of the desert air force. The squadron was the first to use the famous sharks mouth nose art. The main aircraft in the picture ‘GA-V’ was flown by Flying Officer Neville Duke, who later became one of the leading test pilots following the war.
The painting was displayed at the 1999 Aviation Paintings of the Year Exhibition. |
