The aircraft featured is a Mk IX Spitfire of 611 Squadron R.A.F. shown taxiing out in the early dawn light about to embark on an escort patrol in 1942.
The painting was exhibited at the 2005 Aviation Paintings of the Year Exhibition held at the Mall Galleries, London.
